Many European all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles are fitted with a Haldex AWD electronic coupling. These are common in VW, Audi, Volvo, Range Rover, Porsche, Ford, and Skoda vehicles from 1998 onwards. We have in stock OE AWD coupling service items including filters, pumps, and oils for all generations. Some Gen 1-3 items are available by order only.
The coupling is essentially an electronically controlled hydraulic pump and a clutch to provide partial or complete drive to the rear wheels for all-wheel drive mode in normal east-west front-wheel drive vehicles. It is important that the coupling is regularly serviced with a specific grade oil and the filter changed where fitted. All the Gen IV versions of the Haldex coupling have filters fitted. (Even though not sold by Genuine Dealers) If these are not serviced, then the filter can become blocked and eventually cause the pump to fail.
