Symptoms:

Cause:

Overdrive clutches in listed Hyundai/Kia transmissions are applied in fourth, fifth and sixth gears in conjunction with other clutch packs. As the overdrive pressure control valve oscillates and strokes over time, bore deterioration results, which prevents proper hydraulic control of the OD clutch pack. This can cause flares, slipping, erratic clutch apply timing, ratio codes, and burnt overdrive clutches.
